Whether you're the proud owner of the Galaxy S22 Ultra or have a midrange Galaxy A53 as your daily driver, you probably get notifications from a lot of different apps and pop-up alerts about messages, emails, replies, and much more. Now, while this part can vary a little based on your Samsung phone, you should be able to select Notification categories here (on some older Galaxy phones, you'll need to select Miscellaneous instead). Then, select which type of notification you'd like to change the sound for, such as Message notifications.

Step 4: Now, when you go to Settings and look at options to change your notification sound, you should see the name of your desired sound file appear on the list, allowing you to choose it and make it your customized sound.

Step 5: If you want to switch to the default notification sound, open the notification sound option and select the Default notification sound option. This should appear at the top of the sounds list.

Step 4. Scroll down to Where you receive notifications, and click Push. Then, tap the Sounds/Vibrate to turn off the Facebook notification sounds (iPhone/iPad).

Step 5. Under the Sounds section, toggle off Play a sound when each new notification is received and Play a sound when a message is received to turn off notification sounds.

Messager app is featured with ignore messages from the individual profile; ignore Messages option will go into the spam list, Remove from the chat list, and not receive a notification. Follow the below steps to Remove from a spam list and Re-Enable Notification.

Things tend to get noisy when you're in a big group chat, which is why the notification sound for that thread shouldn't be your standard, attention-grabbing ringtone. But you don't want to set the default notification sound to something too subtle, otherwise you'd miss messages that actually matter.

Thankfully, Google's Messages app for Android, which can be used as the default texting app on any Android phone, has extremely granular notification settings. You can choose a default overall notification sound, then set up different notifications for each of your individual or group chats so you know who's texting before you even pick up your phone.

First, you should know that your system default notification sound will still be the default for any chat threads you don't individually change. If you'd like to change this, you can open your Settings app, head to the "Sound & vibration" menu, tap "Advanced," then select "Default notification sound."

Now, you'll be taken to a system settings menu, but it's specifically for this chat thread. This is thanks to a feature Google added to Android 8.0 Oreo in 2017 called Notification Channels. In short, apps can have subcategories of notifications and you can adjust all of their settings independently from the main app's notification options.

So on this screen, leave the upper options alone and tap "Advanced" to reveal more options. Some phones will have these options expanded by default, in which case you won't need to tap "Advanced." Either way, scroll down and tap "Sound," then your system sound picker will appear, where you can choose a custom ringtone that only applies to this specific chat thread.

Facebook Messenger (officially known as just "Messenger") is an excellent app for instant messaging, sharing images, videos, audio clips, and group chats. Initially, the app was only available for Android and iOS, but now it can be used on Windows as well by downloading it from the Microsoft Store. However, sometimes you may run into issues with the app working on Windows PC.

To join our chat, you’ll need to download the Substack app (messages are sent via the app, not email). Turn on push notifications if they float your boat, and you’ll see the convos as they happen, like texts. Or leave them off and pop in when the urge to scroll strikes. (That’s my plan).

Come on, come in, start now and let’s make this take off. I’m even (probably temporarily) turning my notifications on so I will see and hear you. I’ll answer questions, I’ll chat, I might bombard you with that fun instant connection you sometimes get in DMs when you hit people at exactly the right moment and you just go back and forth for a bit. It will be civil, it will be chatty, it will not try to sell you face creams. Unless you want face creams. We can totally talk about retinols and sunscreens if that is also your jam. 2ff7e9595c
